Tony Horton’s new workout program called 22 Minute Hard Corps was released today! It’s a military style PT workout that will motivate anyone to get it done. Everyone has 22 minutes, right? It’s a 1 minute warm up, 1 minute cool down, and 20 minutes of non-stop total body daily workout for this 8 week program.

Simple. Efficient. Effective. Hard Corps!

Each workout from 22 Minute Hard Corps is a total-body routine you can do anywhere! You’ll target multiple muscle groups to maximize your calorie burn in a minimal amount of time – this is not 60-90 minute extreme workouts like P90X. This is boot camp / military PT style workouts that anyone can do.

Chicken Cacciatore

Yield: 4 servings
Serve over whole wheat pasta or brown rice

Ingredients:
• 1 Tbsp olive oil
• 1 lb. boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into 1-inch pieces
• 1 medium onion, diced
• 1 medium celery stalk, sliced
• 1 clove garlic, finely chopped
• 1 medium red bell pepper, cut into 1-inch pieces
• 8 oz. sliced mushrooms
• 1 (14.5 oz.) can tomatoes
• 1½ tsp dried basil, crushed
• black pepper to taste
• 2 medium zucchini, sliced
• 1 medium eggplant, peeled, cut into 1-inch cubes
• Parsley sprigs for garnish

Preparation:
1. Heat oil in large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat.
2. Add chicken; cook 3-4 minutes, or until lightly browned, stirring frequently.
3. Add onion, celery, garlic, bell pepper, and mushrooms. Cook 4-5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
4. Add tomatoes, basil, and black pepper. Cook 5-6 minutes, stirring occasionally.
5. Add zucchini and eggplant; stir and cook for 5 to 6 minutes, or until chicken is no longer pink.
6. Garnish with parsley, if desired.

Your Goals Mean Nothing if Your Behaviors Don’t Change

In his Your Athletic Body blog, trainer and fitness expert Andrew Heming writes about closing the gap between you and your goals by weeding out destructive behaviors and incorporating good ones.

In order to reach your fitness goals and have a body that performs well and looks fit, your lifestyle needs to consistently fall in line. Here are some examples of gaps between goals and behaviors:

Wanting to get lean, but only training twice a week
Wanting a six pack, but unwilling to stop drinking six packs
Wanting to be strong and lean, but eating a high-carb, low protein diet 
Eating a diet with major nutritional gaps
Unwilling to keep a food log
Waiting until 2 weeks before an event to start exercising 
Unwilling to stay on a program long enough to make progress
Unwilling to prioritize exercise over common time wasters like TV and the internet

Where Do You Start?
Once you are aware of non-supportive behaviors, you can start making changes. Don’t be overwhelmed! Start with small changes as you build yourself up to a fitness lifestyle. Here ere are some examples:

Add a 30-minute walk to your week on a non-gym day
Go to bed 15 minutes earlier
Replace one sugary drink with a glass of water
Do 1 more rep for an exercise than you did last time
Lift 5 more pounds than last time
Pick one drill to do one extra time each day
Replace one regular daily meal with a healthy shake
Start a training log and keep it where you work out 
Get an app for food logging
Add one more serving of vegetables a day

Reaching Your Goals
Evaluate your goal to make sure it is reasonable and appropriate for you. If you have set an unreasonable goal, move it back to something more realistic. As you gradually and consistently change your self-sabotaging behaviors and incorporate good habits, you will be on your way to closing the gap between your lifestyle and your goals.

Giving Back to Veterans

In celebration of the 22 Minute Hard Corps launch, Beachbody is partnering with The Mission Continues. Their mission is to help empower veterans adjusting to life at home to find purpose through community impact. Veteran Fellows from The Mission Continues harness strength and skills learned in the military and apply them to volunteering with non-profits in their community.
